Logo

Spitfire Launcher

Updater/Installer for the Spitfire browser, primarily designed for Windows systems.

Build Requirements

  • Go 1.25+
  • Operating Systems:
    • Windows (requires robocopy for efficient file copying)
    • Linux
  • Dependencies:
SPM does the actual work: index verification, download, versioned install, Windows registration...

Usage

spitfire-toolbox.exe installs Spitfire, or opens the Toolbox when it is already installed
spitfire-toolbox.exe --toolbox opens the Toolbox: update, repair, uninstall, profiles, log, user data
spitfire-toolbox.exe --repair deletes the browser and the toolbox, installs them fresh and redoes the Windows registration
spitfire-toolbox.exe --update installs available updates
spitfire-toolbox.exe --uninstall removes Spitfire after a question, profiles are kept unless `--delete-user-data` is added
spitfire-toolbox.exe --delete-user-data deletes the profiles, settings and caches of the current user after a question
  • Every action shows a window, add --silent for none.
  • Progress log goes to <installDir>/spm/update.log.
  • SPM registers --toolbox as Apps & features "Modify", --uninstall --silent as its uninstall command and --update --silent as the scheduled task.

Build

go build -ldflags "-X weforge.xyz/Spitfire/SPM.Channel=nightly" -o spitfire-toolbox.exe

Without the flag the binary is the release channel. The Publisher workflows add the icon and VERSIONINFO resources per role (toolbox / installer).

Uninstall tag

Primarily for Windows systems, since they need in-app uninstall scripts.

go run . --uninstall
